Police Log: Officers Arrest Two on DUI Charges This Weekend
The following are arrests made recently in Portsmouth, including the arrest of two motorists who were charged with driving under the influence (DUI) this weekend.

The following is a list of arrests made by the Portsmouth Police Department from Friday, Aug. 20, through Monday, Aug. 23. The information provided is based solely on police reports.
- Frank Cabral, 41, of Fall River, MA, was arrested Friday around 11:27 p.m., and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police were called to the area of Park Avenue near Ruth Avenue late Friday to investigate a report the erratic operation of a motor vehicle. Police stopped the vehicle operated by Cabral a short time later. Police say they detected a strong odor of alcohol on the operator's breathe, as well as observed the driver having slurred speech and glassy, bloodshot eyes. Cabral was arrested and transported back to the police station, where police say he refused to submit to a chemical test. He later pleaded "not guilty" to the charges and was released on bail set with surety. Cabral is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 9 in Second District Court.
- Charles Reeves, 30, of Stockton Drive, Middletown, was arrested on a bench warrant Sunday following a traffic stop. Officers stopped the vehicle operated by Reeves around 3:20 a.m. on West Main Road near Stringham Road. The vehicle allegedly traveled over the fog line. Reeves was wanted on a bench warrant for failure to appear at a restitution review. He was brought back to the police station for processing and later transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) in Cranston.
- John Eagan, 58, of Wrentham, MA, was arrested Sunday around 1 a.m. after police stopped his vehicle on Route 24 South, near Boyd's Lane. Police responded to the area to investigate a report of the erratic operation of a vehicle. Once pulled over, police say the operator of the vehicle appeared to have glassy eyes. Police also said they detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The operator, Eagan, was arrested after failing a field sobriety test, police said. He was transported back to the police station, where officer say he refused a chemical test. Eagan was charged with DUI, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. An arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 9 in Second District Court.
