Police Log: Portsmouth Man Arrested on Warrant
John Moreau was arrested Sunday on a warrant, and charged with the following: domestic, simple assault, and, domestic, refusal to relinquish a telephone.
John Moreau, 61, of Maize Corn Road, Portsmouth, was arrested following a traffic stop Sunday around 8:40 a.m.
Moreau was charged with domestic, simple assault and, domestic, refusal to relinquish a telephone.
The charges stemmed from an investigation into a reported incident, police said.

A 46-year-old female from Portsmouth told police that the suspect had slapped her in the face, struck her, and grabbed the phone as she tried to phone for help, according to police. The incident allegedly occurred on Sept. 8.
Police obtained an afidavit arrest warrant for Moreau and stopped his vehicle Sunday evening on Union Street.

Moreau was arrested and arraigned on Sunday. He is scheduled to appear in Second District Court on Thursday.
