Police Log: Woman Allegedly Kicks At Officers, Resists Arrest

Woman allegedly grabs phone from 65-year-old

A Portsmouth woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly yelling and swearing at a 65-year-old woman.

Police were called a residence on Valley Lane around 12:30 a.m. for a report of a disorderly woman. 

Hilary Ward, 30, apparently became involved in an agument with a 65-year-old woman. During the argument, Ward allegedly began swearing and yelling at the woman.

When the victim attempted to use the telephone to call police, Ward allegedly grabbed the phone, twisting the woman's wrist, police said. 

When officers arrived, they attempted to place Ward in handcuffs. Ward then allegedly tucked her wrists inside her shirt, pulled back and began kicking at the officers. 

Ward was eventually arrested and transported to police headquarters, where police say they discovered five Clonazepam in her wallet. 

She was charged with possession of a controlled substance, Clonazepam; domestic, simple assault; domestic, refusal to relinquish the telephone; and resisting arrest. 

Portsmouth man arrested on warrant 

Robert Homer, 45, of 10 Redwood Road, was arrested Friday at 6:30 a.m. Homer was wanted on a Second District Court bench warrant for failure to appear at an ability-to-pay hearing. 

Homer was arrested at his home Friday. He was later arraigned before a justice of the peace.
