Police Rescue Barrington Man After Fall From Bridge
Police save man from water Saturday after he jumped from the Mt. Hope Bridge.

Police rescued a Barrington man Saturday afternoon after he fell from the Mt. Hope Bridge.
Officers from the Portsmouth and Bristol police departments responded to the bridge around 12:52 p.m. after receiving a report that a man was seen walking on the bridge and looking over the side railing.
According to police, officers spotted a 63-year-old male from Barrington standing near the north tower of the bridge a short time later.

"Upon seeing the police, the male jumped off the bridge and into the water below," according to a press release issued by the Portsmouth Police Department.
The male was rescued from the water by Portsmouth police officers, who were patrolling in the area on a police boat.

The male was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Bristol Rescue. The name of the male is being withheld by police at this time.
The man was listed in stable condition Sunday, police said.
