Portsmouth Arts and Culture Committee Says Goodbye to Longtime Chairman

George Furbish will now serve as president of the PACC, replacing Eric Broudy, who is moving to Massachusetts.

Members of the Portsmouth Arts and Culture Committee said goodbye to its chairman, , at its meeting on Nov. 3. 

Broudy and his wife, Daisy, are moving to western Massachusetts. 

During the meeting, Broudy was presented with a Town Council proclamation and an engraved town tile, honoring him for his lengthy service to the community. The presentation was made on behalf of the town by , Portsmouth’s director of Business Development and an ex-officio member of the committee.

Broudy served as the chair of the PACC since its inception in 2008, and for six years was president of the during a period of unprecedented growth for that organization. 

He led the guild in developing its first permanent home and gallery at parish hall and was a key figure in increasing its membership to its current level of approximately 160 artists and supporters of the arts. His countless volunteer hours and tireless support for the arts have left a permanent mark on the community, according to a release from the committee.

Replacing Broudy as chairman of the PACC is George Furbish, its former vice chairman, with Jennifer Sunderland assuming the position of vice chairwoman, and Mark Nickel continuing as the committee’s secretary. 

The new leaders and committee members Priscilla Wimpress, Tom Perotti and Wanda Coderre will soon submit a final report to the Town Council, which will include a plan for a community arts center at the site of the on East Main Road in Portsmouth.
