Portsmouth Boy Scout Troop 82 Holds Eagle Court of Honor

Keith Francis becomes Boy Scout Troop 82's 140th Eagle Scout

Keith Francis was awarded Boy Scout's highest rank, Eagle Scout, at the official ceremony on July 23rd in Holy Angels Church in Barrington. Keith is the son of Deborah and Christopher Francis of Barrington. The Eagle Court of Honor for Troop 82's 140th Eagle Scout was led by Scoutmaster Emeritus Justin Mostert, with key note speakers Rev. Raymond Ferrick of Holy Angels Church, Venture Leader Paul Feeney, Eagle Scout Matthew Ruggiero, Scoutmaster Emeritus Frank Santoro, and local dignitaries of religious and military distinction.

As a major component of earning this honor, Keith's Eagle Scout Project consisted of creating a time capsule, which included surveys of “favorites in 2015” by the religious education students of the parish, and designing and leading volunteers to build a garden commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Holy Angels Church. Donations of materials were generously provided by the Warren Monument Company, Ramsay's Landscaping of Bristol and J&J Materials in Seekonk. A ceremonial burial of the time capsule in the garden was held October 26, 2015; the time capsule will be unearthed in 2065, at Holy Angels Church 150th Anniversary Celebration.

Eagle Scout Keith Francis, 16, has been active in Boy Scouts the past 10 years. He has contributed his leadership skills to Portsmouth Troop 82 as a Chaplain's Aide for 2 years as well as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Patrol Leader for 2 terms. Keith is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, the National Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America.
