Portsmouth-Built Boat Takes Second in Volvo Ocean Race
The Mar Mostro takes second place in the Volvo Ocean Race, landing in New Zealand.
The Mar Mostro, a boat constructed in Portsmouth, sailed into second place this past weekend in the Volvo Ocean Race, reports The Sakonnet Times.Â
Led by skipper Ken Read, a Newport resident, the PUMA racing boat came in second as it landed in New Zealand, according to the article.Â
PUMA navigator Tom Addis says the new ranking has given the team momentum, according to the Volvo Ocean Race Web page.Â

“Finishing second is a big boost for the team,” Addis says on the Volvo Ocean Race Web page. “We sailed well, positioned the boat well and got our place back. That’s probably the biggest thing we will take from this leg."
