Portsmouth Dog Park Opens: Photos
The official opening was Sunday, and people are still discovering the posh little digs in Melville Park, off Smith Road.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — It was so hard waiting to be let out of the car for one little Husky who couldn't wait to play. But he had to bide his time while his owner checked with the other "mothers" first and organized the introductions. Some of the other pets already knew each other. But practically everybody's the new dog here. The Portsmouth dog park officially opened on Sunday.
Tuesday, some finishing touches were being added, according to Bunny Miller. For example, Bill's Sales was scheduled to donate a gazebo for the small dog area, she said. A small turnout of pups romped around the grass, while their humans socialized and supervised. The dogs were happy with the park as is, judging from the wagging tails and happy faces. The fur babies had a blast.
