Kyle Wentzel, 18, of Boy Scout Troop 1 was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor at the FOP Lodge #21 in Middletown on August 17. Kyle is the son of Scott and Pat Wentzel, of Portsmouth.

To fulfill the requirement of organizing an Eagle Scout service project, Kyle teamed up with Rick Norton, (his Eagle Advisor) and other Troop 1 scouts and leaders to renovate the ticket booth at the Portsmouth High School varsity football field and repaint the press box on the bleachers, also at the high school.

Kyle would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped with the project and the business and organizations who donated towards the project. These businesses and organizations include One-Stop Building Supply in Newport, the Portsmouth Schools Maintenance Department, the PHS Music Boosters, the PHS Athletic Boosters, and the Hathaway Parents Organization
