Portsmouth Firefighters Train To Enter Locked Buildings [VIDEO]
Members of the Portsmouth Fire Department received forced-entry training Tuesday at the station.
Portsmouth firefighters received training in forcible entry Tuesday at the .
Members learned techniques, such as "gapping" and conventional forcible entry, for what to do when they encounter a locked door or other entryway during a fire.
"What we're doing today is called forcible entry training," said Capt. Michael O'Brien. "When we go to a structure fire, a lot of the times the doors are locked and if we're preforming a rescue, we have to break the door to get in."
