Portsmouth Fireworks at Escobar's Farm on Schedule

The annual July 4 tradition is thanks to the generosity of the Escobar family.

Portsmouth’s annual fireworks display put on by the Escobar family at their Middle Road farm is on schedule for this July 4.

Police remind residents and visitors that there will be traffic delays in the area. There will also be delays near the Mount Hope Bridge because of festivities in Bristol.

There are many viewing areas to see the fireworks beyond MIddle Road.

The Escobar family has generously put on the show for years, and this year, many in attendance will be thinking of farmer Lou Escobar after he suffered an injury earlier this year and has been on the road to recovery for months.

The show starts after dark and hundreds gather at Escobar’s Farm at 133 Middle Road to watch the show, which is both a celebration of our nation’s independence as well as an annual community gathering tradition.

Many enjoy the show because of its rural, community feel. It also is an opportunity to explore the farm.

People are asked to be courteous and consider finding a different vantage spot if Middle Road is clogged with cars. The area must remain clear for first responders. Though many head to the farm itself to see the show, there are many vantage points throughout Portsmouth to catch the action.

If you know of a good viewing spot, post it in the comments. (Please don’t post private property locations without permission).

Donations are expected — and encouraged — since the show does not receive formal town or state funding and is run entirely through donations and volunteers. And the kindness of Mr. Escobar’s heart.

Show begins around 9:30 p.m.
