Portsmouth Gridiron Club to Shower Football Field With Golfballs
The Portsmouth Gridiron Club is raising funds in one unusual way this fall.
The knows local residents love to play golf, but enough to enjoy a rainfall of golf balls?
That's the one unusual way this volunteer group is hoping to make money to support local sports this fall.
The Portsmouth Gridiron Club will hold a Helicopter Golf Ball Drop before the first varsity football home game on Friday, Sept. 9, at 5:30 p.m. at the football field.

A Birdseye View helicopter will soar above the football field. A volunteer in the helicopter will then drop an unknown number of golf balls on the field below.
The balls, supplied by , will be marked. The closest ball to a pin below wins a prize: $1,000 for first place, $500, second place; and $200 for third.

Golf balls will cost $10 for a chance to win. Proceeds will help benefit the purchase of new equipment and uniforms for the football team.
