Portsmouth Man Charged After Insisting Others "Learn Love"

John Marcel McVay, 21, of 181 Brownell Lane in Portsmouth, was arrested around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of obstructing an officer.

Police say that at approximately 2:01 a.m., they responded to the front of Via Via on Thames Street for a report of two people fighting. When officers arrived, they began speaking to the victim, but say they were disrupted when McVay came over and started yelling "You need to learn how to love." An officer says that when he asked McVay if he had anything to do with the incident, he ignored him and continued to tell the victim to "learn love." The officer told McVay to leave multiple times, but he refused, and instead continued to interrupt with "learn love."
