Portsmouth Police Charge Newport Woman With Selling Suboxone

After police said they saw Nevarez completing a drug deal on camera, a warrant was issued for her arrest.​

PORTSMOUTH, RI — A joint effort between Newport and Portsmouth Police led to the arrest of Sheyliz Nevarez, 37, of Newport who is accused of selling the prescription painkiller Suboxone.

Portsmouth Police said Nevarez had been a known suspect for dealing the drug. On Sept. 5, the detective division set-up video surveillance after getting a tip that Nevarez was in the area with Suboxone.

After police said they saw Nevarez completing a drug deal on camera, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

On Sept. 22, Newport police told Portsmouth police they had Nevarez in custody on the. Nevarez was then turned over to Portsmouth police.

Nevarez was held without bail on Sept. 23. Nevarez will be arraigned in Second District Court on Monday.
