Portsmouth Police Initiate Parking Ban

The ban will last until further notice.

The Portsmouth Police Department initiated a parking ban Monday in response to snowy conditions from a winter storm that could leave behind 4 to 8 inches of snow.

The ban will remain in place until further notice.

Police are asking for the public’s cooperation to help make the job of plowing roads a little easier.

“We appreciate your cooperation, and will work with the other town employees to clear the roadways and other traffic hazards as quickly as possible,” the department said in a Facebook post.

Elsewhere, school is cancelled, the Portsmouth Free Library is closed today and will open Tuesday at 9 a.m., the Portsmouth Senior Center is closed and there will be no elderly meals today.
