Despite very little information released by the Portsmouth School Committee or Portsmouth School District, the school committee ratified a new contract with one of its main unions on Tuesday night.
The Providence Journal reports the school committee approved a new contract with Council 94, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, which cuts pension benefits in 2013.
It is unclear how much pension benefits will be cut.

The minutes for the meeting only state the school committee "Approved the substantive changes to the Council 94 contract." There was no mention of pension benefits or ratification in the minutes for the Tuesday, Sept. 25, meeting.
