Portsmouth School Committee Discusses 2012-2013 School Calendar

The Portsmouth School Committee discussed options for the 2012-2013 school calendar at its meeting Tuesday night. 

According to highlights from the meeting, which can viewed in the pdf at right and on the school district's Web site, the School Committee discussed one preferred option.

Key highlights for this option include the following: 

• School year begins the week before Labor Day.
• Thanksgiving recess is Wednesday through Friday.
• Winter break ends on Jan. 1. Students/staff return to school on Jan. 2.
• Last day of school (without emergency days) is Thursday, June 13. 

The school committee also discussed the recent , as well as recognized , who was recently named "Teacher of the Year."

Special meeting to be held Friday

The school committee has also scheduled a special meeting to be held this Friday, Nov. 18, at 4 p.m. at . 

The meeting will be held to "discuss an administrator's performance," according to meeting highlights.

Messages left with the superintendent's office to discuss this meeting were not returned Wednesday.
