"It was a lot of fun," Dvorak said. "I was just speechless because it is not like any other experience I have had. It was just simply amazing."
Dvorak left for New York City on Saturday, Nov. 19, and traveled by train to Penn Station. This was the Portsmouth student's first time traveling long distance by train.

Once settled in, Dvorak began preparing for the parade with the marching band. The Portsmouth youth says the rehearsal was "challenging," but it all paid off in the end.
"The first day of rehearsal was a little challenging, but I already knew how to march so I just had to adapt to their marching style. Learning the Herald Square show was the most tedious though because we did it over and over and over again so we could get it right.
"Then, this hard work really paid off when we were finally able to actually perform on Thanksgiving Day after the three-mile long parade."
