Portsmouth Students Ask Town for Community Service Donations
The Portsmouth High School Student Council is raising money to support ongoing community service projects.

The Portsmouth Student Council is looking for a little help to get some good things done in town.
The student council has asked the Town Council for a donation to help support students’ community service activities, which include the Santa’s Workshop event for children while parents want to go shopping or “just want to get their kids out of the house,” Thanksgiving baskets, pie making, canned food drives and the Easter egg hunt at Melville.
“Our egg hunt is typically very successful. This year was difficult with the snow, but it still worked well,” said Gabby Armin, treasurer of the Portsmouth High School Student Council.

For the past few years, the Rotary Club has donated $500 to the student council, Armin said. Any help from the council would be “greatly appreciated.”
The request comes with an acknowledgement that the town is trying to be careful with costs.

“If it’s not in the budget this year, we understand,” Armin said.
The Town Council will consider the request tonight (Monday, May 11) in Town Hall at its regular business meeting.
