Portsmouth Superintendent Looking for Ideas for New Courses

Teachers will be asked this year to submit recommendations for new courses.

Superintendent Lynn Krizic says she hopes to formalize the course review process for this school year.

Under the new process, Portsmouth High School teachers will be asked to submit course proposals to Principal Robert Littlefield, who will share the proposals with the Principal Leadership Team. The proposals will then be forwarded to Krizic and Colleen B. Jermain, assistant superintendent, for review.

Krizic says she hopes to present course proposals to the school committee in November with those courses approved by December.

The purpose is to establish the course costs, how the course would impact the department and staffing, as well as technology.

"I think you will see a comprehensive course proposal coming forward in the future. Next spring, courses can be discussed for the year after. This is a very tight timeline," she told the school committee Tuesday night.
