Portsmouth Teens, Man arrested in Newport
Police arrest teens for allegedly possessing alcohol this past weekend. A Portsmouth man was arrested in a separate incident for allegedly "punching a car."
- Four area teens were cited Sunday afternoon for allegedly possessing alcohol. Newport police were patrolling Bailey's Beach East around 2:45 p.m. when they apparenty spotted the teens with a cooler in front of them. When officers approached, one, who was holding a cup, allegedly dumped the liquid in the sand, while the others hid theirs with towels, according to police. Officers say they found beer and a pint of unopened rum in the cooler. Brittany E. Mathis, 19, of 209 Weschler Road in Middletown; Olivia Skutnik, 18, of 64 Canonchet Ave., Portsmouth; and Victoria Leduc, 18, of 35 McCorie Lane, Portsmouth, were all issued summons to appear in municipal court on Aug. 16. The 16-year-old Middletown girl on the scene was released to her mother's custody, pending a possible Family Court date.
- Brian J. Davis, 33, of 310 Old Mill Lane, Apt. 2S, Portsmouth, was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday on a disorderly conduct charge after officers say they found him screaming and pounding on a car parked on lower Thames street.
