The recent court ruling that denied Greenvale Vineyards the right to host wedding parties and similar events, calls into question Portsmouth’s “business-friendly” mantra. Director of Business Development, Bill Clark, addressed this and other development related issues, including the status of the current permitting process, preparations for the turnover of excess Navy property on the West Side, and collaboration with Roger Williams University and Salve Regina University relating to business development. He also discussed the activities of the RI Commerce Department, formerly RIEDC, as they relate to Portsmouth.
