Portsmouth's National Night Out A Chance To Meet Local Police

The family-friendly event will include activities, games and a screening of Ralph Breaks The Internet.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — Portsmouth residents have the chance to meet the local law enforcement officers and enjoy a summer evening at this year's National Night Out. On Tuesday, August 6, communities across the country will come together to promote a good relationship between Portsmouth residents and the police department.

This year's event will take place at Glen Park from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., starting with games and activities followed by a screening of Ralph Breaks The Internet at 8:15 p.m.

National Night Out is a program that happens across the country, where local police departments partner with community organizations to promote safety and a good relationship between law enforcement and the public. Portsmouth's is hosted by the Portsmouth Prevention Coalition.

At the event, residents will have the chance to meet local officers in person and learn more about programs offered by the Parks and Recreation Department. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket to sit on during the movie, as well as bug spray.
