Projo.com: RI Wins 'Race to the Top' Funds

Projo.com reports that Rhode Island has won the second round of "Race to the Top" and could receive millions in education aid.

Projo.com is reporting that Rhode Island is one of 10 winners of the $4-billion federal "Race to the Top" competition. This is the second round of the competition, which awards states for education reform. 

How much the state will recieve in aid is unknown at this time.

The state has requested $75 million. A spokesperson from Sen. Jack Reed's office has told the AP that the amount will be "in the ballpark of $75 million."
