Prudence Pumpkin Hopes to Claim Victory in Frerichs Farm Weigh-off
A 1,790-pound pumpkin hopes to be crowned southern New England's biggest pumpkin on Saturday.

Thousands of people from New England and New York travel to Frerichs Farm in Warren to catch a glimpse of the giant pumpkins weighing over a thousand pounds.
A pumpkin grower from Prudence is hoping his pumpkin is announced the winner at the Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Grower’s weigh-off on Saturday.
Ed Giarrusso said this is the biggest pumpkin he has ever grown and thinks it has a chance to win Rhode Island, according to EastBayRI.

Giarrusso says his pumpkin is 500 pounds heavier than his pumpkin last year that claimed fourth place, weighing 1,289 pounds.
Last year, Portsmouth resident Bob Singleton was the winner with a 1,426.5-pound pumpkin, EastBayRI reported.

Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Grower’s Annual Weigh-off has been held on on Columbus Day Weekend since 2000.
This year’s weigh-off begins at noon. Admission is free and parking is $5. For more information, visit Frerichs Farm website.
