The Portsmouth School Committee says the names of the superintendents will not be released.

Citing candidate privacy, School Committee Chairwoman Cynthia Perrotti says the names of the other two candidates for superintendent will not be released to the public.

On Wednesday, Portsmouth Patch sent an e-mail request for the names of the other two candidates after learning about the appointment of as the next superintendent. Perrotti replied late Wednesday night by e-mail with the following statement:

"There will be no information released about the other applicants nor the other top two candidates," she wrote. "It was discussed in executive session. Those candidates might be interviewing in other communities and it would not be appropriate to identify them.

This ends the process of selecting a new superintendent, a process that began after Dr. Susan Lusi announced she was not seeking a renewal of her contract on Jan. 11.

An 11-member committee was assigned to review the candidates for superintendent and present the three finalists to the school committee at the end of May. The committee received a total of 14 applications before narrowing the field to three.

Members of the Superintendent Search Committee were Emily Copeland, Mary Correia, Michael Daly, Jeff Goss, Jerry Hobbs, Al Honnen, Bob Kiely, Kathy Melvin, John Robitaille, Eric Spigel and Lori Stone.

Perrotti said a unanimous vote to offer the job to Krizic took place on June 1 in an executive session meeting. Krizic accepted the offer on June 8.

Her contract will be for three years at $145,000 per year. A $2,000 allowance to assist in her move was also offered and accepted.

Krizic will begin work on July 5.
