Portsmouth School Department Issues Statement About Sex E-Mails Allegedly Sent by School Employee
The superintendent issued a statement after a television news station reported the clerk used her school e-mail account inappropriately.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — The school department was tight-lipped yesterday about a television news report about a school clerk who allegedly used her school e-mail account to solicit sex from adult partners.
The press release from Schools Supt. Ana C. Riley said simply:
"The Portsmouth Public Schools were recently made aware of inappropriate use of school email by an employee. A subsequent investigation into the matter was resolved with the resignation of that employee.
"We in the Portsmouth Public Schools make the safety and well-being of our students our first priority at all times. At no time was any student at risk, in danger, or otherwise affected by this incident. The Portsmouth Public Schools will have no further information regarding this incident."
