David Swain speaks out about rebuilding his life.

This time last year, David Swain was sitting in a Caribbean prison after being found guilty in the death of his wife. On Friday morning, Swain found himself seated in NBC Studios filming an interview for this evening's "Dateline" program, reports the Providence Journal.

The former Jamestown councilman and dive-shop owner was freed from prison last September after his 25-year-to-life sentence was vacated due to a lack of evidence. Swain was accused of killing his wife during a scuba diving incident on the British Virgin Islands in 1999.

In a brief interview, which aired this morning on NBC's "Today" show, Swain told interviewer Willie Geist that he was living with his grown son and daughter in Portsmouth. Since he was freed last year, Swain – who once served as a drama coach at North Kingstown High School – said he has been trying to "rebuild his life." He also said he still misses his wife "every single day."
