The Glen Manor House was designed as a summer residence by internationally famous architect John Russell Pope (designer of the Jefferson Memorial and the National Archives Building among many others) for H.A.C. Taylor and his son, Moses. Moses was in the railroad and steel business and lived with his wife Edith in Mt. Kisco NY. It became the center of a 500-acre farm which raised competitive sheep, horses and other animals. The landscaping was designed by the Olmsted Brothers of Brookline MA. When Mrs. Taylor died in 1959 part of the property became Elmhurst School (1961-72) and later was purchased by the town.

All are invited to celebrate the anniversary of Glen Manor House on Wednesday, August 16th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Enjoy live music by local favorite Deja Vu! Food trucks will be on site (think Mexican, pizza and Ben & Jerry’s) or bring a picnic. A short talk on the History of Glen Manor House will be presented by town historian, Jim Garman. You can tour the first floor rooms and imagine life in the 1920’s or wander the grounds and admire the beautiful landscaping.
