Two Portsmouth Residents Charged With Possessing Pot
Middletown police charge two with possession of marijuana, first offense.
Middletown police arrested two Portsmouth residents on alleged marijuana possession charges shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday following a traffic stop on West Main Road, according to police reports.
Brandon E. Bateman, 21, and a 17-year old, both Portsmouth residents, were each charged with possession of marijuana, first offense. Police say they found evidence of marijuana at the scene.
Reports indicate that a patrol team initially pulled over a 2004 Dodge Stratus driven by a 26-year old female Portsmouth resident with three passengers inside, after clocking the car at 53 mph in a posted 35 mph zone on West Main Road near Brown's Lane.

The 17-year old male was later released into the custody of a parent. Bateman was ordered to appear in District Court on Aug. 13.
