VIDEO: Portsmouth's Ryan Westmoreland Tells Story of Recovery

In honor of its 50th anniversary, the Barrow Neurological Institute decided to feature several patients' stories on their Web site, including the story of Portsmouth native and . 

In a YouTube video seen above and on the institute's Web site, the Portsmouth native talks about being treated at the institute after being diagnosed with a dangerous cavernous malformation. 

"Thank-you for saving my life," Westmoreland says to the Barrow Institute in the video. 

The Barrow Neurological Institute, located in Arizona, is an internationally-renowned neurological center. According to its Web site, "Barrow is respected worldwide for its pioneering treatments, procedures and research into complex brain- and spinal cord-related diseases and conditions."
