Viewfinder: Portsmouth High Chorus Sings Final Show of Season

The Portsmouth High School Chorus rocked a full house Wednesday night with "Who We Are."

The Vocal Ensemble and Concert Choir on Wednesday night presented their last show of the season and the last show of high school for about 20 graduating seniors. The two groups were accompanied by the 8th grade chorus in their performance of "Who We Are."

The two hour performance was under the direction of Meryl Moore. It also featured Kristine Langello on piano, highlighted two senior projects, included solo vocal and guitar performances and had a thoughtful slideshow presentation by Jenn Drake.

The stage was set sparsely, with no formal robes donned, just students in their street clothes singing and performing in the atmosphere of an everyday rehearsal session, bonded by their love of singing.

"In singing, you use the instrument of yourself and put your soul out ther,e which can create a feeling of being vulnerable," said Moore, who added that she works very hard to "make sure everyone here knows they are a part of this family."

The titles of the four-part concert, "Seeking A Better World," "Friendship, Love, Acceptance," "Our Place In The World" and "Looking Outside Ourselves, Remembering" are indicative of the feelings running through this group of young students as they find their voices and embrace the ever-changing landscape and emotions of being "Who We Are."
