Water Ban Lifted
Portsmouth Water and Fire District lifts outdoor water use restriction.
Portsmouth residents are no longer asked to restrict water use, announced the Portsmouth Water and Fire District recently.
The district has removed its mandatory odd-even, outside water use restriction, which was implemented due to low rainfall totals during the month.
According to Michael Nott, chairman of the Administrative Board, the water demand has returned to normal levels in town due to recent storms.

"Mandatory conservation efforts were helpful in reducing peak water demand to a manageable level," said Nott in a recent press release.
The water ban was first issued on July 6 due to extremely dry weather conditions and a high water demand.

Nott, however, has asked water use customers to continue to be "water wise" with outdoor use, especially on weekends when water use is at the highest levels.
Future water use restrictions are still possible, according to Nott, depending on weather patterns and if water demand reaches peak pumping capacity.
