Win a Cake, Play With Animals at Melville Fall Festival

Ice queen Elsa from "Frozen" will make an appearance and kids can play games like pumpkin bingo and a cake walk.

Melville Elementary School is holding its annual Fall Festival next week.

The Fall Festival is one of the school’s biggest fundraisers and it will raise funds for field trips, guest presentations and visitors throughout the year.

“There’s tons of activities for all ages,” said Beth Roman, publicity chair of Melville Fall Festival.

Tickets to play the games are two for $1.

The festival will also feature new attractions like pumpkin bingo in addition to appearances from ice queen Elsa from “Frozen” and an Animal Experience worker who will bring snakes and hedgehogs for kids to hold.

Kids can win a cake to take home during the cake walk. Participants walk around a circle and a number is chosen when the music stops. Whoever is standing on that number wins a cake.

“The families of Melville make them and donate them,” Roman said. “We have some crazy bakers like what you could see on Cake Boss,”

Third grade students will set up a walk-through “creepy classroom” for attendees and there will be a jack o’lantern contest with prizes for all winners. Participants make the creations at home and festival attendees vote on the best one.

Those who attend the festival can have an enjoyable day and also support the students at the same time, Roman said.

All members of the community are invited to attend.
