For This Year's Scholarships, PBA Will Ask Students to Nominate Themselves
The Portsmouth Business Association is changing things up this year.

Every year, the Portsmouth Business Association awards scholarships to two worthy students of Portsmouth High School after receiving nominations from the faculty.
This year, for the first time, they’re asking students to nominate themselves.
The nomination form, available on the PBA website, will ask students two simple questions: “What were you accomplishments at Portsmouth High School?” and “Why do you think you are deserving of this scholarship?”

The deadline for applications is April 1, 2015.
“We felt it was important to engage students in the application process for this award,” said PBA President John C. Farley. “We want to hear their voices and possibly discover a deserving student who may otherwise have been overlooked.”

The scholarships are funded through fundraising efforts by the PBA. Sales from a reusable shopping bag campaign that began in 2013 and a run and walk event funded the scholarships in 2013 and 2014. Another walk and run will be held this November to raise funds to continue the scholarship.
The PBA invites all members of the community to help support the important award.
The Portsmouth Business Association (PBA) is a volunteer-based organization founded by members of the local business community in 1993. The PBA aims to create a positive business environment which benefits both its members and the community as a whole. www.portsmouthbiz.com
