18-Year-Old Shot To Death In Providence On His Birthday: Reports

PROVIDENCE, RI — A teenager is dead after being shot in the chest in Providence Sunday — the boy's eighteenth birthday, according to multiple reports.

The shooting occurred on Rhodes Street Sunday afternoon, after which the teenager died at the hospital, according to WPRI.

The boy was attending a gathering outside his home when his family heard a gunshot and then found him in the foyer, Providence Police Chief Col. Oscar Perez said, per WPRI.

Perez added that the shooting was "a senseless act of violence," WJAR reported.
