PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence woman was charged with food stamp fraud, police said.
Maria Mejia Alfaro, 46, was also charged with giving a false document to an agent, employee or public official, obtaining more than $10,000 worth of property by false pretenses or personation, and fraudulently obtain more than $500 worth of public assistance, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.
"This arrest was the result of the Providence Police Department locating Alfaro," the release said.
"Alfaro was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and transported to Third Division District Court for arraignment," according to the release.
