Providence Woman Charged With Hit-And-Run Crash Surrenders: Cops

The crash was investigated by state troopers, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence woman charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash surrendered to the law, police said.

Celibeth Mercedes Minaya, 18, was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Monday on a charge of duty to stop for an accident resulting in damage to a vehicle, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.

"This arrest was the result of Troopers responding to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident and subsequent investigation," the release said.

"Mercedes Minaya turned herself in at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, where she was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and released with a notice to appear in Sixth Division District Court," according to police.
