PROVIDENCE, RI — A convicted felon from Providence pleaded guilty to federal firearm and cocaine charges, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Luis Martinez, 47, pleaded to the sale or transfer of a firearm to a prohibited person, distribution of cocaine, distribution of cocaine base, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute cocaine base, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a media release.
"Court records reflect that Martinez was previously convicted in Rhode Island state courts on felony firearm and drug trafficking charges and was serving a term of state probation at the time of his arrest in this matter on May 7, 2025," the release said.
Martinez's sentencing was scheduled for Aug. 27, according to the release.
