PROVIDENCE, RI — An apparent pop-up party in Providence erupted in gunfire, leaving five wounded, police said.
The five were shot about 4:45 a.m. in the area of Acorn and Tingley streets, for a report of a shooting, ” Kristy dosReis, the chief public information officer for the Providence Department of Public Safety, said in an email.
"Preliminary investigation indicates that five individuals were shot during what appears to have been a pop-up party," dosReis said.
"Most of the victims sustained gunshot wounds to their extremities," dosReis said. "Four victims self-transported to local hospitals. One female victim remains in stable condition at the hospital."
