Providence Man Charged With Reckless Driving After Wreck: Cops (patch.com) — A 19-year-old Providence resident has been charged with reckless driving after a crash on Route 146 late Wednesday morning, according to Rhode Island State Police. The man was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned by a justice of the peace, and released, highlighting ongoing concerns about highway safety involving Providence drivers.

Chepachet Woman Charged With Driving On A Suspended License: Cops (patch.com) — State police say a Chepachet woman was stopped on Hartford Avenue in Providence and charged with driving on a suspended license Tuesday morning. She was processed at state police headquarters in Providence and brought to Sixth District Court for arraignment, underscoring local enforcement of traffic and licensing laws.
   

3. City of Providence Mayor Brett Smiley, HHS Release FY2026 Housing Progress Report (providenceri.gov) — Providence officials say the city nearly doubled new housing this fiscal year, with about 40% of 988 completed units designated affordable and hundreds more permitted. The new report details zoning reforms, faster inspections, eviction defense, and major investments through the Providence Housing Trust Fund, including support for a 44‑unit affordable project on Elmwood Avenue. 4. Back to Friartown: Providence College Welcomes Students, Kelly Clarkson to Headline Late Night Madness (rinewstoday.com) — Providence College is welcoming its largest-ever freshman class back to campus this week, with students already pitching in on community service projects around local parks, streets, and schools. Looking ahead, Kelly Clarkson will headline the college's Late Night Madness at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence on October 3, kicking off the Friars' basketball and hockey seasons with a major downtown concert.
   

5. Third Great Marian Procession (eastbayri.com) — A large Marian procession is planned in Providence on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, starting at St. Mary Church on Broadway and ending at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul for Mass and fellowship. Led by Bishop Bruce Lewandowski, the free event will feature handmade Marian floats, music, and prayer, and local parishes, schools, and groups are encouraged to register in advance.
