1. 'Potentially Rabid Bat' Spotted At Roger Williams Park Zoo: Health Department (patch.com) — Visitors to Providence's Roger Williams Park Zoo are being urged to contact the Rhode Island Department of Health if they had any contact with a bat in the zoo's water play area on or before August 24. The bat, considered potentially rabid, was discarded before testing, so health officials are now assessing possible exposures and advising on whether rabies treatment is needed.
2. 'Governor's Warrant' Issued by RI for the Extradition… (golocalprov.com) — Authorities have issued a governor's warrant to bring a Rhode Island lawyer back from Florida after he was charged in Providence Superior Court over alleged threats against East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva. The attorney faces one felony and one misdemeanor tied to an August 8 incident, and is currently fighting extradition as the case continues to develop.
3. Michelle Azar to Star in ALL THINGS EQUAL: The Life And Trials Of Ruth Bader Ginsburg 2027 Tour (broadwayworld.com) — A major national tour of the one-woman show about Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will kick off in Providence on January 15, 2027, with tickets going on sale September 25. The production, starring Michelle Azar, offers a ninety-minute, personal look at RBG's life, from early struggles to her landmark work on women's and human rights.
4. Gina Raimondo to become 'senior fellow' at Brown (turnto10.com) — Brown University in Providence is adding former Governor and U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo as a senior fellow at its Watson Institute for the coming school year. She'll mentor students, lead policy discussions, and join other high-profile fellows, alongside returning senior fellow David Cicilline, who once served as Providence's mayor and First District congressman.
