PROVIDENCE, RI — Two University of Massachusetts Dartmouth football players were stabbed — and one was killed — outisde a Providence lounge early Saturday, police said.
Marvins Antoine, 19, was stabbed in the chest and killed in the parking lot of Mezzo Lounge about 12:30 a.m., the Providence Police Department said in a media release.
A second UMass Dartmouth football player, 19-year-old Kensley Macean was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with stab wounds to his head and neck, the release said.
Macean was expected to survive, according to the release.
Police arrested Chukuwnonso Uzoma-eze, 19, on a charge of murder, per the release.
"The investigation determined that the incident stemmed from an altercation involving individuals who had been at Mezzo Lounge prior to the stabbing," the release said.
Uzoma-eze was subsequently located and taken into custody by the UMass Dartmouth Police Department, according to the release.
"The investigation remains active and ongoing," the release said. "Additional charges may be filed as detectives continue to review evidence collected during the investigation."
