1. Providence Man Charged With Larceny And Receiving Stolen Goods: Cops (patch.com) — Providence residents are learning more about a local man charged with larceny and receiving stolen goods after his arrest by the Rhode Island State Police Auto Theft Task Force. The 50-year-old Providence resident was picked up on Sept. 29, also on a warrant for failing to appear in a previous larceny case, and was later presented as a probation violator before being held for arraignment.
2. Johnston Man Charged With DUI: Cops (patch.com) — Drivers in Providence may take note after a Johnston man was arrested on Route 6 in the city and charged with driving under the influence late on Sept. 29. State police say the 62-year-old was processed at headquarters in Providence, arraigned, and released with a future court date.
3. Why white rectangles are appearing on Providence sidewalks (wpri.com) — If you've spotted white rectangles on Providence sidewalks, they're new designated parking corrals for rental scooters and bikes under a city pilot with Spin, mainly downtown and near Brown University. Mayor Brett Smiley says the goal is to keep devices from blocking sidewalks, ramps, and entrances, and Brown students are weighing in on whether riders will actually follow the new rules.
4. RIDOT to begin overnight I-95 closures next weekend in Providence and Cranston (turnto10.com) — Drivers in Providence should prepare for three weekends of overnight I-95 closures at the Route 10/Exit 33 interchange starting October 16, with some full shutdowns after midnight. RIDOT will detour traffic via Route 10 and I-295, and several connector ramps between I-95 and Route 10 will close nightly, so plan alternate routes if you typically use this stretch.
5. Thursday Announce Final U.S. Leg Of 'Full City Devolución' Tour (themosh.net) — A nationally touring emo band, Thursday, is bringing their final U.S. 'Full City Devolución' run to Fete Music Hall in Providence on January 23, 2027, with Titus Andronicus opening. Fans can expect songs from three milestone albums and optional VIP experiences, with ticket and package details available through the band's ticketing page.
