Pawtucket Man Charges With Reckless Driving, Resisting, Disorderly Conduct: Cops (patch.com) β Providence residents are learning more about an early-morning arrest after state police say a 23-year-old Pawtucket man fled an attempted traffic stop before being apprehended on Addison Place in the city. He now faces charges including reckless driving, obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest, and has been arraigned and released with a future court date.

Students at Rhode Island School for the Deaf Honor Pioneering Deaf RI Leader by Renaming Street (pvdeye.org) β Students at the Rhode Island School for the Deaf in Providence successfully pushed City Council to rename their street Jeanie Lippitt Circle, honoring a pioneering deaf advocate. Their campaign included petitioning, testifying at Providence City Hall, and coordinating with city officials, creating a lasting landmark that ties the Wanskuck neighborhood more closely to deaf history and civic pride.

Providence adding e-bike, e-scooter parking areas to curb sidewalk clutter (turnto10.com) β Providence is rolling out more than two dozen new "Spin corral" parking zones for e-bikes and e-scooters across the city, including on Brown University's campus, to cut down on sidewalk clutter and blocked entrances. Local workers, students, and business owners share mixed views on whether designated parking will actually change rider behavior or improve safety near storefronts and walkways.

DEATH BECOMES HER Tickets to Go On Sale at Providence Performing Arts Center (broadwayworld.com) β Tickets for the Broadway musical comedy "Death Becomes Her" go on sale this Friday, Oct. 9, for its January 26β31, 2027 run at the Providence Performing Arts Center downtown. Providence residents can buy in person at the Weybosset Street box office, online, or by phone, with group sales available for parties of 10 or more.

5. RIDEM finds 13 hazardous waste violations by Providence plating company (browndailyherald.com) β A chromium-coating plant in northern Providence, Electrolizing Inc., has been cited for 13 hazardous waste violations after state inspectors found toxic chromium- and cadmium-laced waste lingering in open containment pits and soil near the building. State and federal agencies are still investigating, while city officials say they will review the findings and consider additional steps to protect nearby residents and local watersheds.
