Wanted Pawtucket Man Nabbed In Providence Traffic Stop: Cops (patch.com) β Police say a 46-year-old Pawtucket man wanted on a drug-related warrant was arrested during a Sunday afternoon traffic stop on Orms Street in Providence. State troopers processed him at the Lincoln Woods Barracks before transporting him to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men's Intake Service Center.

Providence Man Charges With Driving On Suspended License: Cops (patch.com) β State police report that a 23-year-old Providence man was stopped on Post Road in Warwick and charged with driving on a suspended license. He was processed at the Wickford Barracks, then arraigned and released with a notice to appear in court.

Massachusetts Man Charged With DUI In Providence: Cops (patch.com) β A 23-year-old Taunton, Massachusetts resident was stopped by Rhode Island State Police on Union Avenue in Providence around 2:15 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence. Police say he also refused a chemical test before being processed at state police headquarters, arraigned, and released to a responsible adult.

Brown University to waive undergraduate application fee for Providence public school students (brown.edu) β Providence public high school seniors can now apply to Brown University without paying the $80 application fee, starting with the current admission cycle for Fall 2027 entry. The waiver, available through the Common Application, aims to encourage more local students to see Brown as an affordable, realistic option and builds on the university's broader financial aid commitments.

Public Street Pipe Cleanup Inches Forward After City of Providence and Rhode Island Energy Reach Deal (pvdeye.org) β South Providence residents are finally seeing movement on the long-stalled Public Street waterfront park, after the city and Rhode Island Energy agreed to split the cost of cleaning a leaking stormwater pipe. Cleanup bids are due October 19 and work is expected by late 2026, clearing the way for a small bayfront park that would give this neighborhood long-promised public access to the water.
