PROVIDENCE, RI — Two cemetery caretakers were slashed in the face Sunday.
The stabber and another "suspect" went up to a 55-year-old male caretaker at Trinity Cemetery on Broad Street and "asked him about an unidentified person," Kristy DosReis, the chief public information officer for the Providence Department of Public Safety, said in an email.
"A second caretaker, a 41-year-old male, approached and attempted to explain that the first victim did not speak English," DosReis said.
"One of the suspects allegedly produced a knife and slashed both victims across the face," she said. "The suspects then fled the scene on foot."
The two caretakers were taken to Rhode Island Hospital and the matter remains under investigation.
