PROVIDENCE, RI — A suspicious suitcase found at the main post office on Corliss Street was examined by the Rhode Island State Bomb Squad but turned out to contain only clothes.

Providence police officers and firefighters were sent to the post office shortly after 3 p.m. for a reported fire alarm, Kristy dosReis, the chief public information officer for the Providence Department of Public Safety, said in an email.

"Upon arrival, it was determined that employees had activated the fire alarm to report a suspicious package, later identified as a small rollaway suitcase," dosReis said.
