Burst Pipe Sets Off Alarm At Providence Place Mall

Shoppers were told to evacuate the mall around 5 p.m. Tuesday due to a burst pipe.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A burst pipe set off the fire alarm in the Providence Place Mall Tuesday evening. According to a mall security officer, shoppers were not forced to evacuate the mall.

According to the security officer, shoppers were not affected because the break occurred behind the scenes, in the area formerly occupied by Nordstrom.

The amount of damage caused by the break is not known at this time.
