Museum of Natural History and Planetarium

Monday, June 1, 1-4pm You will have the opportunity to discover, or rediscover, the fascinating collections during this private program exploring the <a href="https://www.providenceri.gov/museum/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Museum of Natural History and Planetarium</a> in Roger Williams Park. Bring a small easel or chair and your drawing or painting materials, and choose your subject from the collections of birds, bears, lions, and Oceanic artifacts. Museum staff will also select some special “guests” from the museum vaults to display. During the program, the instructor will circulate for those who wish feedback, and at the end of the session, attendees will gather to view and discuss each other’s work. Museum is closed to the public during this program. 
Program fee: $35 per adult/ $30 for <a href="https://www.providenceri.gov/museum/membership/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">museum members</a>. Pre-registration required.&nbsp; Permitted Materials: You may bring the medium of your choice — charcoal pencils, graphite, colored pencils, pastels, or watercolor (please, no oils or acrylics).&nbsp; All skill levels are welcome to participate, high school age and older. Welcome to Emo Night Brooklyn, a late-night, DJ-driven dance party blasting the best emo and pop punk jams that raised us, ruined us, and somehow still define us. We’re taking over Alchemy in Providence on 5 June 2026 for a night of screaming every word, moshing with strangers, and feeling absolutely everything.
This is not a quiet night out. Expect wall-to-wall emo and pop punk anthems, deep cuts, and songs you still know by heart even if you pretend you’ve “moved on.” From the tracks that got you through your worst years to the ones that still hit a little too hard, Emo Night Brooklyn is all about losing your voice, finding your people, and reliving the music that made us who we are. Similar to tai chi, qigong was developed as a healing art rather than a martial art and tends to be simpler to learn. It involves individual flowing movements that stretch and strengthen the body, ultimately putting us in touch with our vital energy (qi).&nbsp;Whether to naturally relieve or prevent pain, maintain wellbeing, or find deeper spiritual connection, qigong is beneficial.

In this class, students will each learn how to make their own Glass Flower. Students will choose colors and learn how to manipulate molten glass to create a beautiful flower. Each student will make 1 flower during this class.
This class will have up to 8 people, each getting a one-on-one turn to make something in glass that they can keep. While waiting for your turn, we encourage guests to watch and learn while the other students take their turn.
Participation and teamwork is also encouraged. All finished products can be picked up the following Wednesday once they finish annealing in our kilns.

Lunar Tide - Painting Class

Each student will learn how to manipulate molten glass on the end of a 4-foot pipe. Instructors will show how to shape glass using wooden and metal tools. This class will allow students to decorate their birds with different color applications. There will be a demo at the beginning of the class. Children must be 12 years and up and accompanied by an adult. Our instructors will help you experience the magic of hot glass! This hands-on session allows you to pick and apply colors, twist and turn them if you want, then blow or shape them into a unique and beautiful piece of art glass. This class will have up to 8 people with each person getting a one-on-one turn to make something in glass that they can keep. While waiting for your turn, we encourage guests to watch and learn while the other students take their turn. Participation and teamwork is also encouraged. All finished products can be picked up the following Wednesday once they finish annealing in our kilns. If you would like your items shipped, we charge a $20 fee that can be paid at that time.
